A different kind of a movie

Not everytime the video games and movie parallels are so straight forward - movies about a video game, or a video game based on a movie, sometimes there are high quality movies created by joining video game cutscenes lineary together. But before I go to detail how awesome video game's Injustice: Gods Among Us cutscene movie is, there was a convergence with the movie business before the game was publicly released.

The stars from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and two life-long gamers/nerds joined to promo this video game through not only one TV spot (the one above), but for weekly YouTube episodes. In these episodes Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes present a tournament, where characters from Injustice: Gods Among Us fight each other, which is logical since the game is a fighting genre. Well, but whom are these characters?

Yes, they are superheroes and their villians. Players are able to choose characters found in DC Comics. And with Netherealm Studios and Warner Bros. created one of the best fighting games of 2013. However, the most amazing part of this game is the story. Yes, you heard correctly - a fighting game with a complex story by Tom Taylor. It is unique for a fighting video game to have an engaging story, but the cutscenes created fro this video game are so magnificently written that they were cut into a full-lenght movie. Rambo is back!

Sylvester Stallone  (Sly) is coming back as Rambo. Well, at least someone that tries to look like him in Rambo: The Video Game.

Even though this video game is completely based on the first three Rambo movies, and the gameplay will be following these movies to the letter, something is little odd how 'Sly' looks like. Have a look:

Are you not satisfyed? Well, I was not. I guess poeple from Reef Entertainment decided to not go with the current standards when it comes to graphics, because this game looks like it was made for PlayStation 2. Why, I ask, why? Apperantly, the recent word around the Internet says that they were just going for a 'typical arcade game experience'. Okay. And still, why is 'Sly' not looking like 'Sly'?

Since this game is based on the first three Rambo movies he should.

1. First Blood (1982)
2. Rambo: First Blood part II (1985)
3. Rambo III (1988)

Players will become John Rambo portraied by 'Sly' and will be able to kill Americans, Viet-Cong and also Afganistants in one video game. Which does not sound that bad. Still, Rambo: The Video Game might seem as a pretty awesome first-person shooter when it comes to movies created into video games, but the graphics offered for a 2013 release are just too ugly. Lets hope that the trailer was just a joke.

The Sims Movie? Yes or No?

Have you ever wondered what would a movie about The Sims game be? What if it was a comedy starring Zach Galifianakis?

The word around the corner is that Fox began to think of creating a movie about The Sims video game already in 2007. However there have been many sitbacks and the release date moved to 2013. But another delay was announced and the most recent information about the movie are that it should be released in 2015, well, if it starts filming. The name so far is John Davis with his Davis Entertainment production company. Their previous work is Waterworld, I,Robot, and Predator. The genre for The Sims movie is set to comedy, so maybe we might even see Zach playing in it.

So far, there have been some Youtube parodies or 'experiments' to film a short movie based on this video game, but the one that stands up and actually is worth mentioning is by Collegehumor project and it is a 'horror' trailer for The Sims movie (well if it was real).

Satisfying the Need for Speed!

Are you tired of the unrealisticism that is constantly increasing in Fast & Furious movies? Was Driven too much of an indie movie, or since you are not a Formula 1 person - Rush does not interest you? In 2014, your Need for Speed will be satisfied!

Yes, one of the most succesfull video game franchises is finally, after 20 years and 22 video games going to have an official movie. 

Movie set in San Francisco

Among several amazing and extraordinary cars, the movie is going to star Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman a.k.a Aaron Paul. He is a good actor, though there is another problem. The story arch in car racing video games is not always the thing that engages players to buy that video game, so we have to keep little scepticism for what to anticipate from it. The filming have already started, and car races can be spotted around San Francisco or Detroit. Everybodies least favourite video game company (haha) - Electronic Arts teamed up with DreamWorks on this movie gig, so we might actually anticipade high quality material. They also decided not to tease us wuth typical teaser or movie trailer, but a behind-the-scenes clip, showing the very first of Need for Speed!

Superman is a NERD!

Even Superman can have an awkward moment, but this one almost cost him his own career - of actually being Superman.

2013's summer hit - Man of Steel - which reboots the Superman saga, almost lost its main star - Henry Cavill, whom by the way gives an amazing performance and is just believable playing the ‘father’ of superheroes. But, when Zack Snyder was calling him to confirm him for the role, Henry was kind of busy…

Well, the point is that this game is played online but live, and there is no save button or pause, and in addition you are not playing alone but with few others. It is considered very rude to leave a game in progress, so Henry just missed the call. When he tried to call back, there was no one answering. Thankfully, he was reached by Zack Snyder again to confirm becoming the ‘man of steel’.

WoW - will there ever be a movie?!

World of Warcraft, massively multiplayer online role playing game that captured the hearts of literally millions (20 million daily players world wide in its glory days) of people world wide, whom daily log in to an virtual world named Warcraft and fight through their avatars against or with each other. World of Warcraft was first released in November 2004 and today, after 4 expansions (The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria) this game still remains 8.7 million daily subscribers. The strength of this game lies in its compelling and hugely complex storyline and the amazing ability to create stunning game cinematics.

Yet, Blizzard, the company behind this game and creators of more amazing franchises such as: Diablo and Starcraft announced that the number of subscribers dropped in the first quarter of 2013 by 14%. It is just about time to create a movie from this amazing game. Planning started already few years ago, however directors are tossing World of Warcraft movie like a hot potato. After Peter Jackson and Sam Raimi decided to drop from the movie, recent information say that the director whom is also David Bowie's son - Duncan Jones is going to direct the World of Warcraft movie. His previous movies were 'Moon' and 'Source Code'. 

It is about time to start shooting so the actual players of the game would still be alive. Legendary Pictures producer Charles Roven confirmed for SlashFilm that they are ready: "First quarter 2014 we are going to shoot that movie." Release date is planned for 2015. Crossed fingers!!!
